This unique course combines the basics of Cyberfraud and Law. It starts by explaining what Cyberfraud is and then proceeds to discuss different types of Cyberfraud, how they can penetrate small and large businesses including real estate industry and how they impact the participants financially, professionally and personally. Next, the discussion shifts to Law. Specifically, federal laws regarding Cyberfraud are highlighted. Importantly, actual examples of Cyberfraud in the form of lawsuits involving well-known companies are shown, providing learning opportunities for the participants. The course concludes by identifying strategies to reduce, if not prevent, Cyberfraud in the participants’ professional and personal settings.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completing this course, the participants should be able to:
1) appreciate the financial, personal and professional impact of Cyberfraud and recognize the fact that it may not be a matter of if, but when they may be impacted;
2) understand BEC (Business Email Compromise), EAC (Email Account Compromise), Wire fraud in real estate closings, DDoS (Distributed Denials of Service) attacks, and the underground hacker marketplace;
3) recognize attempts of spoofing, phishing, and wire fraud by looking at real-life examples including emails and social media;
4) become aware of Cyberfraud laws and lawsuits; and
5) learn strategies that they can implement at home and workplace to reduce, if not prevent, Cyberfraud.

Test your knowledge! Realtor® forwards closing instructions to the buyer, and a hacker intercepts the email before the wire transfer. The money disappears, and the buyer sues the Realtor®. How did the court rule? Was the Realtor® liable, and what kind of hacking took place? Find out in the first 5 minutes of our Cyberfraud seminar. Free to members!
